I’m sticking to my thirty-one days, but today, a brief intermission from Revelation for Five Minute Friday. Writers take five small minutes and let their mind and fingers fly like the wind with a single word prompt. No edits. Raw. This is just what this mama needed today! More about FMF here.
Working at GAP in the early 2000’s a fantastic lime green pea coat hit the racks. I would try it on, stroke the sturdy felt and without looking in a mirror, I knew, it was the one.
But I’m too practical and was a single woman paying a mortgage, so I’d try the coat on, relish the moment and put it back. My mantra is never pay retail because everything goes on sale. Sure enough, walking up to the rack in late January a co-worker told me they were on sale. Not just oh that’s a nice sale, we’re talking deep discount end of season sale.
I nearly passed the twenty-five dollar coat by, but I liked it so much (which is uncommon) that I took the plunge. More than a decade later this lime green pea coat comes out of my closet weaving past memories to new.
What article of clothing will you never part with?
